Connection of Emergency Services Centre to Site Generators - Sandwell Hospital, Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust.

The project comprised the upgrade works to connect the Emergency Services Centre to the existing site generators.

This required builders work in connection with the services modifications, removing the existing ESC site generator and associated control system from the Emergency Services Centre Switchboard, installation of new cable support / containment systems and new generator submains distribution cables (4 x 4core 240mm SWA's in parallel + 300mm CPC) measuring almost 200m each running back to the 3 x site generators switchboard GSB1

The Generator Switchboard, has been extended with a synchronising Auto - Changeover end Section inclusive of ComAp Control System and new 1600 amp incoming mains and generator air circuit breakers along with the extension and modification of existing Fibre Optic Ring to transmit generator controls signals to the ESC Switchboard.
This new system enables short-term parallel operation between the mains and generator supplies for no-break switching, dynamic on-load testing and no-break return.
Installation of HTM compliant Switch Tripping Battery Unit, Earthing Bonding, Testing [Including Loadbank] and commissioning of the new cabling, controls and switchboard extension.
