This project was completed over various phases, which began with a new extension and followed with refurbishment of over half of the school. The new extension was a relatively straight forward installation but was made difficult by the design of the roof structure. The roof structure caused issues with containments and cable routes so these had to be planned carefully in order for the project to be completed. The refurbishment of the existing school was carried out while still occupied, this was the case for the majority of the project. Close liaison with the staff was maintained throughout to keep the project to schedule, minimise risk and maintain a high level of safety in and around the work areas. As part of the project and due to the fact the existing distribution boards had no charts or labels a lot of investigation works were required, often taking place out of normal working hours. Our biggest challenge was replacing the existing mains panel board and installation of new SWA cables to replacement distribution boards. Our team of engineers worked tirelessly over the Christmas holiday in 2014 to complete this element of works so no down time occurred at the school.
