Project Summary -
The project involved reinforcement of the existing Low Voltage (LV) and standby generation infrastructure with refurbishment of the main boiler house, surrounding workshop buildings and water treatment building at the Hospital site to provide a more resilient electrical distribution network.
R.D. Jukes acted as principle contractor on this scheme, responsible for site set up, management, health and safety, electrical, mechanical, specialist, civils and builder's works.
The Sub Mains Distribution System has been modified and upgraded removing the essential/ non essential service and providing a single source of supply.
The existing 330 KVA Standby generating equipment controls and switchgear have also been upgraded to provide additional standby facilities, change over with the mains supply, for break return and testing.
The main LV switchboard has been replaced and upgraded, which created considerable logistical challenges as the existing switchboard had to be partly dismantled and removed to facilitate adequate space and workroom for the new LV switchboard to be delivered, assembled, tested and commissioned. The existing LV switchboard was removed, once transformer and generator upgrades had been completed and LV distribution sub-main cables emanating from the existing LV switchboard were transferred to the new switchboard.
Additional Boiler Systems, UPS Manual Bypass Controls have also been provided.
Boiler House, workshops and Water Treatment plant distribution systems, Lighting, emergency lighting have been upgraded to included smart control and monitoring systems. Small power services have also been upgraded.
